Montessori Environment

What is Montessori?

Montessori is a scientifically based education approach that emphasises independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child's natural psychological, physical, and social development. It was developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori.

What are the key elements to such an environment?

  1. The Prepared Environment is an organized space with a various range of material from which the children can chose to work with

  2. The material is specifically designed to suit the childrens age always ensuring that the material they work with is never too simple nor too difficult for their age to work with. The Material covers a wide spectrum of topics ranging from Language, Mathematics, Geography, Sensorial, Movement,  Zoology and Practical life.

  3. Trained guides are the third element that we provide. Some staff members will have been trained in how to support the children when navigating through the environment and also supporting the children with the material, where necessary

Overall, we try to ensure that the environment is always kept neat and orderly filled with natural Material and colors
